Alena walked around the lunae libri aimlessly, not knowing exactly where she was or what she was doing but from the outside, the building looked like a library and where better to find public records than a library right? Although upon closer inspection she had realized that the lunae libri was not technically just a library, it was a place to practice. So she walked into the lowly lit room, looked around and saw that no one was in plain sight, she sat at a nearby table and pondered for a moment, her head held in her hands as she thought on trying to gather her thoughts, the last thing she had remembered was she was tucked up in bed, the next she was dreaming about a school and voila she was here. This town had that very same school she had envisioned in her dreams, but how did she get there exactly?
Her memories were vague to say the least, she remembered her name and her age and that she had some magical abilities, she knew that she was a witch or rather that's what people had told her, back in her hometown... It was coming back to her now, she was from Brooklyn and yikes was she far far from home, which explained the time difference it was daytime here where-ever here was. Seeing that there was a newspaper on the table she picked up and started reading it, she noticed it said Gatlin Gazette which she figured that was where she was. Now she intended on finding out why she was there and how she had gotten there.
Looking around the room once more to check she was definitely alone, she began to cast a memory spell, which to anyone else would looks strange as she clicked her fingers and the candles lit up around her, taking a few moments to compose her thoughts and stop her mind from racing with questions as she stated her intentions. whispering them softly... "Bring back what was once lost, the secrets now i do unlock" of coarse it was a simple spell, but it should be enough to show her some of her lost memories through visions or flashbacks or even it could work in the sense that she may see future events. She just hoped she could work the puzzle pieces out and put them into the right order, she sat and breathed heavily with her eyes closed and opened them....

I wandered down the worn stone steps into the Lunae Libri. It was open today, invitingly cool on my skin compared to the blistering heat outside. When you first entered the library there was a few tables, generally kept neat and clean. But of you moved to the back, to where the entrance to the Caster tunnels was, it became cluttered full of shelves and stacks of books everywhere.
Today I was wearing something somewhat normal. At least in my opinion. I have a crazy weird style. Styles, I suppose you could say. I had the powers of a palimpsest, so if I woke up one morning in a Victorian mood, then I dressed that way. This morning I had my hair up in a bun on the top of my head. I was wearing glasses, big framed and black, instead of my contact lenses. I wore a grey cotton tank top underneath a red sweater - which at this moment was hanging over my arm. I had on a long black skirt and black flats.
I approached one of the tables in the library. There was an older, beautiful lady casting before me. I paused, hand pressed to my temples as I sorted through the events up to the present. An old librarian sorting through books, hundreds of casters looking for their answers here. Everything opened and hit like doors, and after a few long minutes, I straightened up and smiled at the lady.
Knowing she was searching for something based on what I had just seen, I ave her a smile. I had always been fond of the calm quiet of the library and might as well have been the librarian here. "What are you searching for?" I asked, my tone casual yet polite. "Maybe I can help you."

My concentration was broken, i heard footsteps and then felt a presence close to me. Opening my eyes i looked to my right and there stood a girl, a somewhat eccentric looking girl. Her hair all precise, her build so slender she was a petite little thing and looked like a doll, apart from her sense of style. Although I couldn't pass comment on her choice of clothing, i was after all sat there in my rather revealing lace baby doll nightie. Thankful that it had a sort of dressing gown cover over it, but it was made of lace so it hardly covered anything. Pulling it tight across my chest, the girl had spoke.
She'd asked if she could help me, and what was I searching for. "Good question hon, i don't know where to start"
She was known as a witch to her closest friends back home in Brooklyn, here it would turn out that she was called something else. That her abilities would mean something else and perhaps she was about to find this out from the child. Holding onto the newspaper lifting it so the girl could see i asked her. "Where is Gatlin, maybe you could start there for me?"
Her brow ached, from frowning. Tossing the newspaper back onto the table and resting her head into her hand as she rubbed her temple with her finger tips. This black out, or whatever it was; was definitely starting to take its toll over Alena. Sighing as she rubbed her forehead and then lifting her head to look at the girl again she added. "I'm um. Alena Moriarty by the way" Holding out my hand to offer her a handshake and a somewhat pleasant greeting in a weird circumstance.

Seeing that she wasn't going to immediatley cast me away based on my age, I slid into the seat across from her. I tilted my head, adjusting my shirt and crossing my ankles, peering at the book she held. A memory spell. Well, if she was searching for the past, it was sort of my specialty.
"Good question hon, i don't know where to start" she said, and I cast her a confused look.
"Where is Gatlin, maybe you could start there for me?"
Oh, I was only too happy to comply. "South Carolina," I replied. "Home of the polite. Supposedly this place has 'the best buttermilk pie,' but I've tasted better. As for the polite thing... yeah, it doesn't always work."
I waited for her next question. She tossed the newspaper back on the table and rested her head on her hands as she rubbed her temples. She sighed before looking back up at me, introducing herself as Alena Moriarty and holding out her hand for a handshake.
Grasping her hand I shook it somewhat enthusiastically. "Gabrielle Jordyn Foxe, at your service." I gave her a smile and a small shrug. "Power of palimpsestry. For those unaware, I walk into a room and see everything that has ever happened there. How can I be of assistance?"

South Carolina ... wow thinking she was further from home than she expected. Smiling at the girl who seemed sweet, older than her years and wise in her ways. She obviously wanted to help, but as she talked i got more and more confused. Palmistry to her was reading palms in a clairvoyance sense. She never heard of it in that sense before. It seemed now that Gatlin definitely had a reason for her being there, and perhaps some sort of purpose. As she shook my hand, i got another flashback of my past my life back in Brooklyn. I saw how pathetic it was, just a small apartment with no children no spouse, and at her age god only knows she should have one being nearly middle aged and all. Yes she was a witch back in Brooklyn but all she had was a simple book of shadows which she followed. Performing simple spells for others, never for her own personal gain. Which was why the memory spell hadn't worked. But now she didn't need it, she had someone there to fill in the blanks for her.
Pulling my hand back away from the girl, now known as Gabrielle Jordyn Foxe... So formal of her, but the flashback made me want more answers and so i asked her. "Pleasure to meet you Gabrielle, you're so polite for one so young and that's quite some talent you have, all i can do is play with fire." cutting herself short, but at the same time she had no clue what she was in this place, or what she was capable of. Looking at the girl as she took a seat i continued."You can definitely be of assistance to me, i don't know how i got here or why. I was in bed back in Brooklyn, dreaming of a school I've never seen and voila i was some how transported here. Magically... So i walked in here, and tried a memory spell but it failed. Now i get the odd flashback now and then, but that's it. Oh and of course i have no clothes, and i should put something less revealing on before people start coming in here..." Wondering how she would take this news i sat in silence and looked at her quizzically and waited for a reply.

We quickly shook hands, and explained her situation. I became more and more confused with every word. Sudden memory loss was odd. Maybe she had suffered a blow to the head or something of the sort? That might make some sense. Perhaps someone had cast it on her, or maybe she had a misfired cast. I blushed and stammered a "Thanks" when she complimented me on my manner and power.
"Well, there's only three ways I can think of that you lost your memory. Either you suffered a blow to the head, a different Caster took it, or you had a misfired cast. The last one seems improbable, considering your powers are so well developed." I was going to say because she was 'older,' but I was afraid of insulting her.
Now for the next thing. The dreams. "As for the dreams, it seems almost like you're trying to remember, sub consciously, you're just... experiencing troubles." I tilted my head, appraising her for a moment. "Okay, well, we need to work on memory. Problem is, the only way I can look at the past is if I walk into a room and see everything that happened. So, let's go back to the Caster Academy. We can take the tunnels there." I gestured to the looming cave-like door at the back of the library. "We can either find something on the way, or you can use your fancy powers and a cast to conjure up some clothes. I'm just assuming you're a Natural or a Cataclyst, because most of the rest of us can't Cast anything like you can." I cast her a smile. "Not to mention fire is the sign of a Cataclyst."

"Well what i've worked out so far from the flashbacks, i'm not so sure i want to go back to my old life." grasping the lace gown around me tightly. Listening intently to what Gabrielle had to say and nodding in agreement and adding. "yeah i agree, my memory was fine. well i'm assuming it was fine, when i was in Brooklyn, but when i turned up outside this library it was suddenly gone. I have no aches and pains, so i haven't had any accidents or anything." Gabrielle went on to talk about an academy, which sounded like a school for older or more of a college for more talented pupils. I just wanted to get out of the library before anyone else were to come in and see me in my smalls.
Alena had nothing on her feet and she wasn't looking forward to walking through tunnels but she got up and followed Gabrielle towards the back of the library all the while trying to cover up her body, and keep herself warm. Looking at Gabrielle, with a raised brow again somewhat confused. "These words you come out with i have no clue what they mean, and as for powers. Do i have any? i must do right, or i wouldn't of just appeared out of thin air...hmm" Bemused and intrigued to find out what this town was, what the academy was and more so what she was in this place. "So that place, where we just were. Was that a library is it used for magic? I'm also assuming that a caster is a magical person, but you've lost me on the natural and cataclyst bit" Silencing herself to give the girl chance to reply, walking through the tunnels looking down at her feet, being extra careful where she placed her feet as she walked.

[ sorry for bolding again. hard to color it on my phone. ] I swiftly lead the way down the Caster Tunnels. Time was always different here. Sometimes no time at all could pass while you're down here, sometimes the same amount of time that normally would, and very rarely it would jump ahead. Sometimes even the tunnels changed. One day they were finely furnished hallways, others nothing but a dark cave. But the torches were always present, and I grabbed one as it lit up to guide our way. Meantime trying to ignore the flood of memories that was present in my mind, causing me to be distracted. "Well, you're a caster. That's like a really broad term for us. Like 'horses' is an animal, but then there are so many breeds, plus warm bloods and that sort of thing." I had had an obsession with horses a while back. "So, we are both Casters. We can either be claimed light or dark, which is essentially good or evil. And each Caster has its own power. For example, I'm a palimpsest. I can see history, to sum it up. I know you have to be a Caster because if you were a mortal, you would have had extreme difficulty getting here."
I paused to see if she was keeping up. Both in walking and if she was getting what I was saying. I tend to ramble and jump from one thought to the next without stopping.
"So, yes, you are a caster. I'm assuming that you're something like a natural because you were doing some pretty powerful casts back there. Naturals and Cataclysts are pretty strong Casters. As for the library, it is for magic. Mortals can't see it. It's really beneath the real library. The lunae libri will probably be your best friend." I had to smile at that one. The library had been my best friend since I had arrived here. "It will have everything you need to know. Of course, I could help you as well."
With that, I paused. There was a winding set of stairs, brightly lit, and then a heavy wooden door. I placed the torch in a holder and it extinguished itself. I moved quickly up the steps, throwing open the door. It was pretty heavy. We were right outside the girls dormitories. "Welcome to the Caster Academy," I said with a grand bow.

Walking along side Gabrielle all the while taking things in, listening intently on what the girl had to say. Looking up and around the tunnels, watching as she picked up a torch and lead the way into the caster academy. With her arms still folded across her chest, just nodding to show she was paying attention to what she was saying. Everything she had just heard was a lot to take in, she always knew she was different as a child; but never believed that she could be this different, this powerful and now she had to choose if she was good or evil. She figured for now she was definitely good, she needed to learn everything there was to know about the caster academy and its inhabitants before actually stating if she would be a force for either team. Which to her, meant that a war was coming which meant she needed time to access her abilities, to fine tune them and understand what it was that she was. was she a natural or cataclyst. Only time would tell, and because she was in no hurry to go back to her old life. Gatlin was as good a place as any to get in touch with the inner you. She would teat this time away as a holiday, health spa with a difference.
Alena noted how cold the tunnel floors felt under her naked feet, and how her feet felt warmer once inside the caster building. Looking around again at the grand decor, how different it was to the darkly lit lunae libri. Smiling at Gabrielle and laughing softly as she bowed and welcomed me to the school. Everything that she had just said to Alena, made her head swim with thoughts and ideas of magic, casting and looking down at her feet, curling her toes onto the wooden flooring, feeling how smooth it was beneath her toes she thought about clothing again and within an instant her nightwear had gone and she was stood there in a knee length black pencil skirt, pale flesh colored tights and high heels. The blouse she wore was a simple fitted shirt, which was buttoned up to her collar bone, leaving one button open to show off her neckline and of course her bust. With her arms out at her side, looking at Gabrielle, in a confused and shocked tone she said. "Well now, that is much better than what i was wearing before hand but damn, did i really just do that?" waving her arms about, pointing from the floor up to her head to gesture to Gabrielle to look at her from head to foot. Now she began to think on what her other abilities were, and would she in fact turn out to be a force for good or evil. Grinning at what had just happened and her thoughts, she went on. "Well i am too old to be a student again, but i will need help to understand my abilities whatever they may be. I wouldn't want to be walking around the school anytime soon in my pjs again. So i guess i need to first figure out what ability brought me here, and perhaps that will help you to understand what type of caster i am? Looking back at the girl and then around the room. It was a grand room indeed, she thought she was going to fit in great here in the academy and wondered just how she would fit in exactly. Time would tell.
